Guide equipment

The guide equipment used in the VRM is fixed on the casettes and remains on the stand during stand change.

Guide equipment of Morgårdshammer’s standard design, consisting of friction type entry guides in the first stand, roller guides at the entry side of stand No.2 “ and 3, and exit strippers on the exit side of all stands, is used.


Machining of the roll grooves

The machining of the grooves has to be carried out with high precision in a numerical- controlled lathe, and the groove measured automatically by the machine itself through the measuring probe, with feed back for correction. A special reference surface on the side of the roll is used. The grooves are located in relation to this reference surface with high accuracy.

On the reassembly of the stand, the same reference surfaces are used to adjust the position of the grooves with aid of a special tool.

This system secures the required accuracy of the rolled product.
