Morgårdshammar became the leading and dominating manufacturer of rolling mills in the Nordic countries. The product line involved blooming, medium and small section mills which were sold within the country and abroad.
Of great importance for the success of Morgårdshammar were also the designs created by the wellknown innovator Erik Norlindh, who was a member of the staff for more than 20 years from 1940. The introduction made by Morgårdshammar of worldpatented products such as roller guides in 1945, housingless roll stands in 1948, housingless roll stands with cylindrical roller bearings in 1959 and convertible roll stands in 1962 has been of great importance for rolling mill technology as a whole.
These original concepts have been continuously developed to meet the ever increasing market demands for innovation and effectiveness. Morgårdshammar established several companies abroad and together with a net of agents the world market was cared for.
In 1975 Morgårdshammar AB was bought by Beijer-invest and a few years later was incorporated in the Volvo group.

In 1987, as part of a move to concentrate on its core business, Volvo sold Morgårdshammar to the Italian rolling mill producer Danieli &
C SpA. Morgårdshammar is today manufacturing and delivering revamps of rolling mills, guides and spare parts world-wide.
In September 1992, Sund-Birsta AB, specialist in coil and bar handling, was acquired by Morgårdshammar. In the well-equipped workshops of Morgårdshammar, located in Smedjebacken Sweden, both rolling mill equipment and the product programme of Sund-Birsta are produced.
